Pest and Beneficial Insects iNaturalist project

Metro Vancouver Pest and Beneficial Insects iNaturalist project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project hopes to create a space for anyone who is around farms and gardens to collaborate to document, identify, and learn about pest and beneficial insects found in Metro Vancouver Agriculture. If you spot an insect, within or around a farm or garden, snap a picture and add it to the project. Take your best guess at what you think it is and then other project members can help to confirm or narrow down the identification. Please include as much additional information as possible about your observation so that everyone can learn more about what we are observing.

WHY GET INVOLVED

The success of farms and gardens in Metro Vancouver is intimately connected to the intricate relationship between pests and beneficial insects. Understanding these tiny creatures is essential for cultivating thriving crops and healthy landscapes. SPEC’s iNaturalist project is your opportunity to deepen your knowledge and make more informed decisions and to contribute to this growing body of information.

Whether you’re a grower, hobbyist, or are just interested in agricultural pests and beneficials, please join us to collaboratively document and expand our understanding of the dynamic world of pest and beneficial insects in Metro Vancouver’s agriculture.

SPEC extends a sincere thank you to David Hanam for his commitment and  contributions towards this project.
