Lovin' the Earth

What is Lovin' the Earth?

The “Lovin the Earth” campaign is about supporting each other to take the right actions, to identify and back climate courageous leaders, and to find the confidence and well-being that comes from reconnecting with nature and each other.

The first Lovin’ the Earth project was the 2019 Climate Action Fair, which brought together businesses, organizations, and individuals for a full day of fun, activities, and learning. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold another Climate Action Fair in 2020 and 2021, but plan to return in Summer 2022.

In 2021, the Lovin’ the Earth Campaign returns as an online raffle, launching in early August.

Climate Action Fair

In 2019, this one-of-a-kind fair was less about talking and more about doing. SPEC staff and volunteers, along with guest speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors chose the most impactful actions to combat the climate crisis and gave attendees the tools to accomplish them.

Participants took a tour with a residential fire-smart expert, test drove an electric car, talked with alternative energy installers, discussed plant-based diets and recipes, discovered zero-waste shopping options, learned non-partisan tools for identifying climate courageous leaders, and discovered a support network.

We are excited to offer another Climate Action Fair in the future when it is safe and comfortable to do so.

Future Projects

NEW for 2022, the Lovin’ the Earth team is exploring guided walking tours to help residents discover all the ways Vancouver encourages urban sustainability.

If you know of a great example of urban sustainability within Vancouver, email us to share and it may be featured on an upcoming tour.
