SPEC

Volunteer

Since SPEC began in 1969, passionate volunteers have been the most valuable part of our identity. Volunteers like you play an important role in our accomplishments.

We offer a variety of opportunities ranging from project research and planning, fundraising, assisting at special events, garden plantings, cleanups, and community outreach.

Current Opportunities

Repair Cafe Volunteers

Join the Repair Café team and become part of a community dedicated to teaching and learning repair skills to combat the throwaway culture. Whether you’re an expert fixer, eager to learn as an apprentice, a natural with customer interaction, or prefer behind-the-scenes work, there’s a role for everyone. By volunteering with us, you’ll help extend the life of everyday items while connecting with like-minded individuals. Sign up today to make a difference and promote sustainability in our community!

Team Meetings

Team meetings are  the first step to volunteering with SPEC. In our meetings, you will be exposed to the various volunteering opportunities and will be able to share you knowledge and skills, while connecting with others. Our teams help develop many of SPEC’s programs and projects and are always looking for feedback and fresh ideas. Our teams are mostly volunteer-run and occur once a month in the evenings. Meetings are free and open to the public, and we always encourage new community members to join.

Meetings are available for the following teams:

Third Wednesday of the Month
6:00 – 7:30 pm

Second Wednesday of the Month
6:30 – 8:00 pm

Meeting dates vary, please email to join.

Please email Communications@spec.bc.ca to join us online. Find out when the next team meeting is happening by checking our events page.
