SPEC Energy & Transportation Committee
The health of our planet depends on reducing our energy consumption and shifting to sustainable and renewable energy sources.
SPEC’s Energy & Transportation Committee works to educate individuals, businesses, communities, and children about renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainable modes of transportation.
We also advocate at a municipal and provincial level for energy and transportation policies that move us toward energy conservation, responsible energy production and a healthy and just urban environment.
The Energy & Transportation Committee meets every third Wednesday of the month, from 6pm - 7:30pm. Check SPEC's events calendar for upcoming meeting dates and locations.
For over 40 years SPEC has been committed to promoting energy conservation and sustainable transportation in the Lower Mainland. We have opposed new large-scale power generation infrastructure as well as highway expansion mega projects. We worked to establish an Energy Demonstration Centre in the 1980's which focused on educating the public about the benefits and feasibility of solar power generation, and we continue to educate the public on climate change and renewable energy solutions.
