SPEC turns 50!
Since 1969 we've been helping communities reconnect with nature, touching all the aspects of local environmental conservation from helping found Greenpeace and creating the first recycling depot in BC, to banning cosmetic pesticides and educating thousands of kids to grow and protect their land. Today, we want to celebrate our achievements and the many more successes to come with our most important partner: you.
Here's to another 50 years!
Come reconnect with nature the events we will be hosting throughout the year. We are still finalizing the latest details but once we them ready we will publish more information.

In celebration of its 50th birthday, SPEC is presenting a climate action fair on Saturday August 31, from 10am to 4pm at Riley Park in Vancouver.
Under its call-to-action theme, RECONNECT WITH NATURE, this free, all ages event will feature guest speakers on a mainstage and in the Riley Park Community Garden, along with stroll-through exhibits, acoustic music, and lots of interactive and skill-building demonstrations.
Add a sparkle to SPEC's 50th birthday by donating to the brightest campaign ever: The 50 Candle Challenge: $50 a month for 12 months. Your gift of $50 a month for 12 months will help us deliver hands-on sustainability programs to 100 children.
As a non-for-profit organization, we make all our programs as affordable as possible, however in 2018, thousands of children were not able to join our sustainability workshops due to lack of resources.
Let's candle up and give our kids the tools for a brighter future!
Reconnection with nature happens every day but most don't even realize it. We want to show how much our lives are linked to nature sharing your stories. By sharing how you reconnect with nature you will help others realize the treasure we have around us. We will share our stories on social media, our website and compile them on a digital document to share with your family and friends.
It can be as little as one picture, a short sentence or even an article, we want to hear it all!
